The reason why Galileo got condemned by the clergy is that he annoyed all the other scientists because he said "the orbit of the earth around the sun is perfectly circular" (which is false it was an ellipse) and with a circular orbit the results does not corresponds to reality as much as the old models that had more complicated orbits than circles and Galileo did not admit their model was bad not by virtue of a bad initial concept but because it did not fit the observations due to the circular orbit in his model (afterwards other scientists made a better model that took in account the fact the orbit was not circular) Galileo had support from the clergy because he was friend with the pope which is why he got condemned so late while being extremely irritating to the scientific community. Ask Galileo.Back then the church was participating in a significant portion of the scientific research hence the condemnation of a scientific. Wizards and Druids are often depicted as astrologers, and "fate being written in the stars", is a classic trope.Ĭlerics just don't pay enough attention to the stars. Most gods in mythology are not omniscient. (Weird is so weird, I want to start a thread on it.) It's not the Wish spell, but at least it isn't the Weird Spell. I know it may not seem all that powerful, but Foresight is one of the few ways anyone can bolster their saves short of being a martial or a war wizard.Īnd you can lend it to your fighter? This spell could potentially buff the damage of a fighter by more than a meteor swarm does damage if the day is long enough to allow it. Besides foresight, what better class to take advantage of a weapon cantrip for example? It's easy for the majority of the classes to get access to it, except divine casters that are more inclined to use it anyway since they lack stuff like extra attack or tenser's transformation.I just realized Foresight is a touch spell. So they try their damnest to not change a thing. My guess is that wotc is very happy with how cleric is at the moment. I haven't seen many people praise foresight on druid. So I'd say all in all, I don't find it that powerful. A cleric doesn't gain much by casting it on himself. It would be strong as a support spell to cast on the fighter.
